It’s officially time to deck the halls! We are about to kick off the month of December, so we thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane to “Christmas past” with some of our favourite holiday reel compilations to get you in the decorating spirit for your own home. #InHouseForTheHolidays

Being aware of societal shifts and ever-changing design trends is an important part of our job as interior designers. We like to think of ourselves as unbeholden to trends but, whether we are conscious of it or not, they do shape our viewpoint and inform our work. We have been keeping a close eye on the revival of the ‘70s aesthetic ever since we first saw it emerge in fashion as far back as the early 2000s. The ‘70s were an era of free spirited, bold, and eclectic styles with maximalism reigning supreme. While this era might conjure up visions of plastic covered sofas and orange shag carpets, the trends we’re seeing today won’t remind you of your grandmother’s house! Instead, they’re focused on materials, textures, and shapes in an updated palette, resulting in a sophisticated and fresh take on the grooviest decade. It’s decorative gourd season, y’all! Traditional fall colours are inspired by the reds, oranges, and yellows of the season — which in nature, we must admit, are stunning. However, this punchy palette is a little trickier to pull off in interiors, so as we officially kick off the season, we invite you to grab a pumpkin spice latte and take a look at how we like to use nontraditional colours to create some seriously cuddle-inspiring spaces perfect for fall.
